Are you self-employed?

You are required to declare all your income earned as a self-employed worker.

You can deduct your expenses for the year as well as capital amortization, in proportion to your personal use.

Do you have rental income?

You can deduct your current expenses:

  • Insurance
  • Interest charges/Loan costs
  • Legal and accounting fees
  • Management fees
  • Repairs and maintenance (If the rental property is a condominium, you can deduct the monthly common charges).
  • Property taxes
  • Utilities: You can deduct the cost of utilities for the rental property only if, as the landlord, you are required to pay them under the terms of the lease.
